Item Break Chance

Item Break Chance works Accordingly:

Break Mechanic:

  • Each item you have equipped will have a dice rolled at the end of the quest.
  • If your break chance is 0% at the beginning and the hero levels up during the quest it may push the break chance above 0% look out for this!
  • Break chance doesn't stack up and break other items.

Skill Support RankI Icon Support Mechanic:

  • Support protects items of the hero's whole party (yes, the hero is counted as its own companion)!
  • The order of protection starts with the lowest break chance of all broken items up to the highest break chance one. If there are ties in the chances the following apply.
  • The order of protection starts with hero slot 1 and goes in order to hero slot 6.
  • The protection order of a specific companion's items if multiple breaks will start with equipment slot 1 and work its way to slot 7.
  • Support DOES NOT protect each hero from breaking an item. Once it prevents an item from breaking then it is used for that quest.
  • Support DOES stack so you can have multiple support I on a single hero.

Skill Resourceful RankI Icon Resourceful Mechanic:

  • Mechanic protects ONLY the equipped hero's items.
  • The order of protection starts with item slot 1 and goes to item slot 7.
  • Resourceful DOES stack and will protect more than one item if you have more than one Resourceful I in the party.

Skill Supplier RankI Icon Supplier Mechanic:

  • Supplier is an additive bonus to any other Supplier or Fastidious bonus.
  • It is applied to every companion in the party.
  • The bonus it gives DOES NOT subtract the given break chance.
  • The bonus DOES reduce the break chance by the total sum of Supplier and Fastidious applied to the hero. (Break Chance x Prevent Chance)

Skill Fastidious RankI Icon Fastidious Mechanic:

  • Fastidious stacks additively with any other Supplier or Fastidious bonus.
  • It ONLY affects the hero the skill is equipped to.
  • The bonus it gives DOES NOT subtract the given break chance.
  • The bonus DOES reduce the break chance by the total sum of Supplier and Fastidious applied to the hero. (Break Chance x Prevent Chance)

Equipment Break Chance Formula

Break chance is determined by three factors:

  1. The absolute value of the difference in level between the hero and the item.
  2. The hero's affinity for the item's type.
  3. The quality of the item.

Break chance is calculated from these factors through the following steps.

  1. base_break_chance = 1 - (1 - 0.03 * level_difference - affinity_modifier)^0.85
  2. If base break chance is less than 0.03, set it to 0.03.
  3. break_chance = base_break_chance * quality_modifier
  4. If break_chance is less than 0.005, set it to 0.

Affinity and quality modifiers are given in the following tables.

Affinity Modifier
Yellow -0.025
White 0
Light gray 0.0125
Dark gray 0.025
Quality Modifier
Basic 1
Good 0.75
Great 0.5
Flawless 0.3
Epic 0.15
Legendary 0.05
Mythical 0.04

Example #1: A level 30 hero using a level 30 flawless item with normal (white) affinity yields a base break chance of 1 - (1 - 0.03*0 - 0)^0.85 = 0, adjusted up to 0.03. The break chance is therefore 0.03 * 0.3, or 0.009, or 0.9%.

Example #2: A level 25 hero using a level 30 mythical item with favorite (yellow) affinity yields a base break chance of 1 - (1 - 0.03*5 - (-0.025))^0.85 = 1 - (1 - 0.15 + 0.025)^0.85 = 1 - 0.875^0.85 = 0.1073 (approx.). The break chance is therefore 0.1073 * 0.04, or about 0.004294, adjusted to 0%.

In general, any hero can wield their favorite mythical weapon at 5 levels higher and still not break it.

If the item had been level 31, then the base break chance would rise to about 0.1335, and the break chance would rise to 0.00535, making it breakable.

If the item were level 30 and normal (white) affinity instead of favorite, then the base break chance would rise to 0.1553, and the break chance would rise to about 0.0062, or about 0.6%.

If the item were level 30 and favorite, but legendary instead of mythical, then the base break chance would stay at 0.1073, but the break chance would rise to 0.005365, or about 0.5%.
